2-day Legal Awareness Training with Chetna Serving Humanity

On 5th & 6th September 2025, Part III was invited by Chetna Serving Humanity to facilitate a training on the everyday forms of injustice, violence, and the laws that protect them with women stakeholders from different panchayats of Nawada District, including Sarpanch, Panch, Mukhia, Pramukh, and Ward Members, along with ASHA workers and ANM workers. Around 120 women stakeholders joined this training in Nawada, Bihar

The training was facilitated by Pratima Kumari and Md. Ali Imran from Part III, and attended by special guests — Priya Jyoti (Dy. SP, Cyber Crime, Nawada), Prabha Kumari (Police Inspector, Nawada), and Manoj Kumar (DIG, Kosi Range).

Day 1 brought together around 60 women stakeholders from different panchayats of Nawada — including Sarpanch, Mukhia, Pramukh, and Ward Members. Through interactive discussions, participants shared their understanding and personal experiences of domestic violence — ranging from child marriage and physical abuse to lack of family support and dowry-related pressures.

Facilitators built on these conversations to discuss the forms, causes, and impact of domestic violence, as well as the roles local leaders can play in prevention and redressal. Participants were introduced to key legal frameworks such as the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (2005), the POSH Act, and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.

The second day focused on ASHA and ANM workers, around 60 participants from Nawada District. Discussions centred on the everyday realities these frontline workers encounter and the challenges in identifying and addressing domestic violence in their communities.

Facilitators guided them on how to support survivors, connect them with redressal mechanisms, and use their positions to intervene early and sensitively. The day ended with a Q&A and a shared commitment to continue these conversations within their fieldwork.
