3-day Legal Capacity-Building Training With Dalit Youth In Patna

From 22nd to 24th September 2025, Part III organized a training on building the legal capacity of Dalit youth (who are emerging as community leaders) in Patna. Around 32 participants from different regions and communities from Patna joined us.

The training was facilitated by Adv. Md. Ali Imran, Adv. Pratima Kumari, Manju Kumari, and Kavi

On day 1, we collectively shared space for dialogue — where participants reflected on their identities, social locations, and how these shape their experiences of discrimination and belonging.
Through group activities, songs, and storytelling, they discussed community histories and local heroes — from Birsa Munda and Dashrath Manjhi to Sant Ravidas — and explored how these stories of struggle and resistance still guide them today.

The second day deepened the conversation through sessions on the Indian Constitution and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Facilitators — Adv. Md. Ali Imran and Adv. Pratima Kumari from Part III — used interactive discussions, visual materials, and real-life examples to explain rights, responsibilities, and the role of legal safeguards.
Participants shared their own encounters with discrimination and worked together to connect these experiences to constitutional values of equality and dignity. A film screening on Dashrath Manjhi further sparked conversations around resilience and systemic barriers.

On the final day, facilitators led practical sessions on writing complaints and the importance of documentation in seeking justice. Participants practiced drafting FIR applications and reflected on how written records can strengthen accountability.

Kavi from Part III facilitated a reflective exercise on storytelling — reminding participants that every photograph, every lived moment carries a story of resistance worth being told. The discussions encouraged self-reflection and mutual learning.
