Two day training on documentation, research and theatre as tools for better implementation of SC/ST PoA Act

The Orai training was mostly for lawyers and field workers associated with DDJC – almost the whole DDJC team of 11-12 people attended the Orai meeting. The DDJC training sessions were aimed at understanding how different research methods and documentation can bolster the work of DDJC. We used an RTI tracker sheet we had prepared to show the duties of the different stakeholders under the Act and how RTI can be used to get information from those stakeholders. This, we hope, will enable the DDJC team to better litigate the cases they handle.

The Kanpur training was for a young SC audience, predominantly female, who wanted to understand their rights under the SC/ST PoA Act better and who are associated with the Sahyogi Grameen Vikas Sansthan in some capacity or the other. Around 30 people attended the Kanpur meeting. With the Sahyogi Grameen Vikas Sansthan, we used the theatre of the oppressed as a tool to create awareness on different socio-economic issues. These methods can be used by the participants to start a discourse on these issues.
